I arrived at the Berlin Ostbahnhof and walked to my hotel, the Michelberger Hotel, with just a small suitcase in my hand. I was just staying for one night only, so I didn’t need much stuff with me. But this short walk, maybe 15 minutes, already blew my mind.
I walked along the East Side Gallery, the longest open air gallery in the world. It presents images that leave a great impression, painted directly on the Wall. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and live music was being played by a pretty, young girl with her guitar. 118 artists from 21 countries gave the Wall its unique look, what a masterpiece!
I walked on down to the river and just soaked in this Berlin flair, which I already could feel was pretty special. Then I arrived at my hotel, which confirmed the city aura. The Michelberger Hotel can be described with one word only: cool! But I will use some more words and take you on a photo tour to expand the impression:-)
The motto “small is beautiful” really suited the room I had, the “Cosy”-room. It was very cosy, indeed. The flair of the hotel and its staff was laid-back, international and relaxed. The staff was young and friendly, the hotel lobby like a modern library and they have their own booze (I know, a Norwegian girl will always notice these things).
So, let’s have a closer look around:

My cosy room was small but very nice, I enjoyed the special details!

Hotel lobby – never seen anythink like it. Check out the lamp made of books!

The weather was beautiful, so I enjoyed my delicious breakfast outside in the yard!
I kind of regret not drinking from the fountain of youth! Well…
My short stay in Berlin really made me wanna come back and explore this city some more. One day I will!
For everyone planning a short stay in Berlin, I really recommend visiting the East Side Gallery. Incredible!
I was in Berlin for the Momondo Open World Award, where Charlotteontheroad was in a finalist in two categories. I had a blast, so thank you, Momondo!

Yes, same here. One day is really not enough, but at least it’s better than nothing😉😊👍
Berlin is really quirky, as you discovered right away. Your hotel does look cozy and interesting. Berlin is a many-layered city. I spent a few days there but I’d love to go back and explore more parts of the city.
