The Rheinstein Castle – a “Rhine” beauty!

The Rhine Valley in Germany is famous for all its castles and good wine. Let me show you one of my favorites! Like a little gemstone in the middle of the Rhine Valley I discovered the beautiful Rheinstein Castle. It has soul!

It`s a steep walk up (but very short) to the castle after arriving by boat. The reward is an amazing view of the Rhine River! I sat at the castle restaurant and had the best Flammkuchen (a German speciality that looks like a very thin pizza but with a distinguished taste) I have ever tasted, accompanied with the castles own wine (a Riesling of course, typical for the area). It was just pure beauty!

Those are the moments where I like to stop and reflect on how wonderful it is to travel and how grateful I am for all the beautiful travel moments I have had in my life. Such beauty makes you humble. Let me show you what I mean on a photo tour:

How to get there:

From wherever you live, jump on a plane to Frankfurt. From there, you take the train only one hour to Rüdesheim (check out my post on Rüdesheim to get tips on what else to do in the area!) and you spend the night(s) there. Check my post in the hotel section about sleeping in a real wine barrel!

Go to the tourist office and buy the “Romanticism Ticket” (a round tour including cable car, chair lift, boat trip and the castle)! Voilà – it`s THAT easy:-)

Dare to make your dreams come true – the journey starts with a single step!

  1. Oooh I so love this. What a treat. Can you imagine what it took to build this castle so long ago on that spot? That might be in my thoughts while I enjoyed my glass of wine sitting up high looking out over the Rhine river.

  2. When I was there I was blown away. Very beautiful place! But that Flammkuchen….. looks really delicious 🙂

  3. Omgosh, you just brought back childhood memories. I knew I had gone up one of the castles along the Rhine when I was 14 but couldn’t remember which one and this is definitely it! I totally remember it now! Would love to visit again! Thanks for linking up with #TheWeeklyPostcard!

  4. The castle looks gorgeous, especially with all the greenery. The views are impressive too. When I finally make it there, I want to try the German pizza too. Thanks for sharing on #TheWeeklyPostcard
