This summer, I went to the north of Norway to celebrate my daughters name day. I wanted to celebrate it in my home town, Melbu, situated in a region called Vesterålen. This is directly on the border to one of the worlds most famous island groups, the Lofoten Islands, with all its beauty.
With friends and family, we traveled a whole day to get there (you can find travel tips on “how to get there” in the very first blog post on Charlotteontheroad, which was of course a post about my home town), and they were all amazed.

The first view arriving with the bus from the airport – absolutely stunning!
Since I`ve already shared with you all how to get there (and general tips on what do do), I want to just share some images with you to give you an impression of the place and maybe inspiration to jump on a plane!
To experience the nature, it`s not necessary to be in great shape. We had a mixed group including even children, and we all had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful nature.

Only a 30-40 minutes walk up the mountains and you have this view! The mountains in the back are the famous Lofoten Islands!
This hike up a mountain called “Haugnyken” is a nice hike even for children. One can also book a boat trip and go out fishing. That`s lots of fun! But no action is sometimes just perfect, refilling the batteries in amazing surroundings.

Pure relaxation with the girls. For me, nature is the best mediation there is!
There are several white beaches throughout the area, perfect for surfers or just for collecting shells or going for a walk.

This beach called “Taen” was one of my childhood playgrounds.

Freedom!

A typical flower in the summer named “Geitrams” (am. fireweed)

The midnight sun lights up the Norwegian summer in the north and caresses people all night with is gentle rays of sunlight.

Melbu Hovedgård – a museum and event location without comparison! This is where we celebrated out little girl!
Nature is like poetry. Melbu is my favorite poem. I hope you enjoyed the little journey!

When your`re home you can just be yourself, let it all go, be free. You become a little girl again, weak and strong, you get power to move on, power to handle anything coming your way. This is the place that gives me all this and my dream is to pass this on to my daughter. I love you, Josie!

Dare to make your dreams come true – the journey starts with a single step!

Thank you California Globetrotter for letting me share!
Norway seems really beautiful. I’d love to visit it someday. Your photos are really enticing. #TheWeeklyPostcard
Thank you very much!💕
Norway looks so beautiful. What a perfect place for hiking. That beach looks amazing – if only the water wasn’t so cold! Thanks for sharing on #TheWeeklyPostcard.
Yes, the waters can be pretty cold, but we swim anyways, we are vikings😂😉
WOW, what pristine landscape. I would love to see this – that water is so blue and so clear. (Of course, Norway is on my list anyway because of it’s natural beauty, but this area seems breath-taking!) I know that I was amazed that it stayed light so long when we were in London last year, so I can’t imagine the midnight sun. I’ve been thinking about booking a trip to Iceland (cheap fares!) to experience something similar, but I’m also conflicted because I want to go when we have a chance of seeing the northern lights. So many beautiful places to see.
Many people want to see the northern lights..but to be honest, that is not the best time to travel to these countries. The summer is recommendable for the first visit…and the you can go back to see the lights (and you only see them if you’re lucky. It might happen that you don’t see them at all, which would be a pitty)😉
You grew up with a beautiful playground in your backyard! Would love to visit Norway one day! Thanks for linking up with #TheWeeklyPostcard!
I hope you will be able to, its wonderful! Thank you for letting me share!💕
How beautiful your hometown Melbu is and the pictures are amazing. A wonderful glimpse of the beauty of Norway. Thanks for sharing! #TheWeeklyPostcard
Thank you, very much appreciated. It really is beautiful😉😘
Definitely gives some inspiration to jump on a plane! Norway is one of my favorite countries ever – all the landscapes look out of this world and people are so friendly! I haven’t been to its Northern part yet – but I´m ready to travel again and again, just to experience this beautiful nature ! #TheWeeklyPostcard
I hope you will have the chance to see the Northern part one day, it really is spectacular😉😘
